FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, March 18, 2014) - The 5th Military Information Support Battalion (Airborne) held a Lineage and Honors Ceremony March 3 to commemorate the 5th Loudspeaker and Leaflet Company.

The observance took place in the 5th MISB (A) classroom, celebrating the battalion’s achievements, and highlighting the 63rd anniversary of their constitution.

“We will continue to move forward into the future, just as we have in the past, as long as we have great soldiers operating this battalion and great leaders to lead it,” said Maj. Michael P. Cochran, 5th MISB(A) executive officer

The 5th MISB(A) Commander, Lt. Col. Maycros I. Baez, with senior enlisted advisor, Command Sgt. Maj. Michael S. Parrish, unveiled a plaque dedicated to the battalion. It read, “To the 5th Military Information Support Battalion (Airborne), from its Soldiers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and Officers, in commemoration of the constitution of the 5th Loudspeaker and Leaflet Company on 3rd March 1951.

After the unveiling Command Sgt. Maj. Parrish and Pfc. Mitchell Majeski, the battalion’s youngest Soldier, cut the ceremonial cake.

“On behalf of the Soldiers past, present, and future,” Parrish said just before slicing through the units crest with an NCO Sword.

In response to the 5th MISB(A) Lineage and Honors Ceremony, Col. Stuart P. Goldsmith, 8th Military Information Support Group (Airborne) commander stated, “I find this history fascinating and look forward to any future opportunity to celebrate our history.”
