MEDIA ADVISORY: 96th Civil Affairs Soldier to receive Silver Star during valorous ceremony

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Jan. 16, 2014) – The 96th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne) will conduct a valorous awards ceremony, Jan. 23, 2014 at 9:30 a.m., at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School Memorial Auditorium, Fort Bragg, N.C.

The ceremony includes the awarding of the Silver Star, two Bronze Medals with Valor and four Army Commendation Medals with Valor, recognizing the Soldiers for their selfless service and dedication to duty.

FOR THE MEDIA: Media wishing to cover the ceremony must contact the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Public Affairs Office at (910) 432-6005 by Wednesday, Jan. 22, 3 p.m. Media should provide after-hours contact information, to include e-mail addresses in case of any changes to the program schedule.

Please provide the number of news team members, video/still photographers, live-feed trucks and other special equipment you plan to bring to the ceremony. Special needs or interview requests should be submitted a this time as well.

Media should meet representatives from the USASOC PAO office at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Stryker Golf Course parking lot on Bragg Blvd.
