MEDIA ADVISORY: 4th MISG (A) Soldier to receive Soldier's Medal

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Feb. 07, 2013) – The 4th Military Information Support Group (Airborne) will host an award ceremony to present the Soldier's Medal to Staff Sgt. Tyrone Mitchell, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m., at the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School's Bank Hall.

A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Mitchell, a signal support systems noncommissioned officer, with the 8th Military Information Support Battalion (A), showed unparalleled selfless service above and beyond the call of duty when he placed himself in danger to rescue a trapped driver on the scene of a serious vehicle accident, May 20, 2012, in Spring Lake, N.C.

Lt. Gen. Charles T. Cleveland, United States Army Special Operations Command commanding general, will present the award.

Members of the media who wish to cover the ceremony must register with USASOC PAO by Feb. 12 before 3 p.m.

Please provide the number of news team members, video/still photographers, live trucks and other special equipment you plan to bring to the ceremony. Media planning live coverage during or after the program must provide that information to USASOC PAO when responding to this invitation. Special needs or interview requests should be submitted at this time as well. Media should provide after-hours contact information to include email address, so we may inform you of changes.

USASOC PAO will meet media at Stryker Golf Course on Bragg Boulevard by 11:30 a.m., Feb. 13. The media convoy will depart Stryker no later than 11:45 a.m. due to the heavy traffic associated with that time of the day. USASOC PAO will escort live trucks in that convoy. If live trucks require earlier arrival, please coordinate with USASOC PAO no later than Feb. 12 before 2 p.m.
