The U.S. Army Special Operations Command honored its first valor award recipient, 1st Lt. Jack L. Knight, during the unveiling of its inaugural Medal of Honor exhibit. The exhibit will feature Medal of Honor recipients dating as far back as 1945. Knight, was awarded the medal posthumously for his heroic actions as a cavalry troop commander with the MARS Task Force. During World War II, American fighting men earned 432 Medals of Honor.
