FORT BENNING, Ga. (USASOC News Service, Feb. 11, 2015) – A Ranger combat medic and an explosive ordnance disposal Soldier are scheduled to receive Distinguished Service Crosses at an awards ceremony Feb. 17 at 10 a.m.

Sgt. Bryan Anderson, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, and Staff Sgt. Jeffery Dawson, 28th Ordnance Company (Airborne), are receiving the nation’s second highest honor for their heroic actions Oct. 6, 2013.

During combat operations on a remote compound occupied by enemy insurgents, the enemy triggered multiple suicide explosive devices and improvised explosive devices, wounding several members of the joint operations task force.

Fully knowing the extreme and imminent danger to himself, then. Anderson repeatedly moved throughout an improvised explosive device belt with no regard for his own life to render aid to several fallen comrades, directly saving the lives of two members of the assault force.

Fully knowing the extreme and imminent danger to himself, then Dawson repeatedly moved throughout an improvised explosive device belt despite being wounded by two separate detonations to retrieve wounded and fallen teammates.

The ceremony will be held at Marshall Auditorium in McGinnis-Wickman Hall.
