MEDIA ADVISORY: 3rd SFG (A) dedicating building after MOH recipient Robert Miller

3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) Public Affairs Office

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, May 12, 2014) – Col. Patrick Roberson, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) commander, will dedicate the unit’s headquarters building after Medal of Honor recipient, Staff Sgt. Robert Miller, May 19 at 11 a.m. on Fort Bragg, N.C. during 3rd SFG (A) Memorial Week.

Miller was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his gallantry in battle while serving as a weapons sergeant for Special Forces Detachment 3312, Special Forces Task Force-33, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan,  in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

3 SFG (A) will host multiple events during the week of May 16-19. Amongst those will be the stone laying for the fallen troops, organizational day and the memorial ceremony.

FOR THE MEDIA: Members of the media who wish to attend the ceremony must inform the 3rd SFG (A) PAO at (910) 908-6769 or the USASOC PAO at (910)-432-6005 by May 16 before 2 p.m.

Please provide the number of news team members, video/still photographers, live trucks and other special equipment you plan to bring to the ceremony. Media planning live coverage during must provide the information to the PAO when responding to this invitation. Special needs or interview requests should be submitted as well.

Media should meet the PAO at 10 a.m. on May 19 at Stryker Golf Course on Bragg Boulevard. The media convoy will depart Stryker no later than 10:30 a.m.
