MEDIA ADVISORY: 160th SOAR (A) change of command

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (USASOC News Service, June 11, 2014) - The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) will hold a change of command ceremony June 27, 2014, at 9 a.m. in front of Grimm Hall at the 160th SOAR (A) command headquarters.

Col. John R. Evans, Jr. will relinquish command to Col. Michael J. Hertzendorf in a traditional Army ceremony.

Hertzendorf is taking command following completion of the Army War College and as commander, 1st Battalion, 160th SOAR (A).

Evans has been the commander of the 160th since July 2012 and will move on to a fellowship at the Brookings Institute, Washington, D.C.

Host for the ceremony is Brig. Gen. Erik C. Peterson, commanding general, United States Army Special Operations Aviation Command.

FOR THE MEDIA: Media wishing to cover the change of command ceremony must contact the 160th Public Affairs Office at 270-412-8108 by 12 p.m., Friday, June 20.

Media should provide after-hours contact information, to include email addresses, in case of any changes to the program schedule.
 
Please provide the number of news team members, video/still photographers, live-feed trucks and other special equipment you plan to bring to the ceremony.  Special needs or interview requests should be submitted at this time as well.

Media should meet representatives from the 160th Public Affairs office at 7:45 a.m. Friday, June 27, at the Svitak Hall parking lot outside the Bell Station spur gate.  The media convoy will depart no later than 8 a.m.
