USASOC says thank you with Org Day

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, July 25, 2014) - Amid the sunshine that bathed the Sandhills of North Carolina, the U.S. Army Special Operations Command said thanks to the Soldiers, Civilian employees and their Families July 25 at Smith Lake.

Canoe races, dunk tanks, bouncy castles and more were just part of the fun at the annual USASOC Organization Day.

"Org Day is something tangible to give back to the Soldiers, Civilians and their Families said Julie Rooney, USASOC's event coordinator.  "They can come out, relax and have a great time with their families."

"Our kids love it," Kristen Anderson said. "They got excited when we told them. There are a lot of activities for them."

Along with the fun, Organizational Day allows the command to come together as a community.

"I think it is great," said Cathy Boggs. "People get to meet others from the command that they might not normally see."

"It gets people out of the office and have fun together," said Powell Parks. " I am out here every year."

Rooney said it is a morale builder for the command and helps build esprit de corps. She says Organization Day is special to her as it is a way to help those who have come back from deployment and need to unwind.

Organization Day is an annual event and is a combined affair with USASOC, the U.S. Army Special Forces Command and the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command. Money for the event will help future events.

"We have the best Soldiers and Families and I like to spoil them," Rooney said.
