MEDIA ADVISORY: 3rd SFG (A) dedicates kennel complex

3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) Public Affairs Office

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, June 10, 2013 – The deputy commander of 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) will host a ceremony dedicating the 3rd SFG (A) Multi-Purpose Canine Kennel Complex in honor of Sgt. Aaron J. Blasjo on June 13 at 9 a.m.

Blasjo, who served as a Special Forces Multi-Purpose Canine handler, died May 29, 2011 while serving in Wardak province, Afghanistan.  It was his third deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

A plaque honoring Blasjo will be unveiled during the ceremony, and will by placed upon the entrance to the Kennel Complex, located in the Bragg training area on Chicken Road, in his honor.

FOR THE MEDIA: Media wishing to cover the ceremony must contact the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Public Affairs Office at (910) 432-7589 or the USASOC Public Affairs Office at (910)-432-6005. Media should provide after-hours contact information, to include e-mail addresses, so we may keep you advised of any changes to the program schedule.

Members of the media who wish to cover the ceremony must register with the PAO by June 12 before 4 p.m. Please provide the number of news team members, video/still photographers, live trucks and other special equipment you plan to bring to the ceremony. Media planning live coverage during or after the program must provide the information to the PAO when responding to this invitation. Special needs or interview requests should be submitted as well.

Media should meet the PAO at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 13 at Stryker Golf Course on Bragg Boulevard. The media convoy will depart Stryker no later than 8 a.m.
