USASOC Public Affairs Office

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, July 19, 2013) – Under a bright morning sun, Soldiers, family members and distinguished guests of the 528th Sustainment Brigade (Special Operations) (Airborne), gathered to say farewell to their out-going commander, and welcome a new one, during a traditional Army Change of Command ceremony at the U.S. Army Special Operations Command headquarters.

Col. Thomas J. Rogers relinquished command to Col. Daniel K. Rickleff. Lt. Gen. Charles T. Cleveland, USASOC Commanding General, officiated the ceremony, passing the unit colors from Rogers to Rickliff, symbolizing the transfer of authority.

Rickleff, a native of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, served as the 129th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion Commander at Ft Campbell, Ky. He is a Distinguished Military Graduate from Wisconsin State University in Winona, Minn., with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and has a Master's degree in General Administration from Central Michigan University. His military education includes a Master's of Military Studies from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and he was a U.S. Army War College Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Rogers, a native of Rome, Ga., served as the commander of the 528th since July 2011. His next duty assignment will be with Special Operations Joint Task Force.

During the Change of Command ceremony, Cleveland addressed the brigade saying "You have exemplified the USASOC's model of Sin Pari, you are truly without equal."

As he addressed the audience in his new role as the 528th commander, Rickleff said "I am grateful to have the privilege and honor to serve with, and lead America's finest men and women in the 528th Sustainment Brigade, and pledge to the Soldiers, families and civilians of the 528th that I will work tirelessly to provide each of you the resources and steadfast support you deserve each and every day in order to continue to provide seamless and persistent logistics support to the Special Operations community.
