Mission
Provide Soldiers of the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School with the best career guidance possible.
- Reenlist a sufficient numbers of highly qualified Special Operations Soldiers to fill the force.
- Enlist, or transfer and assign sufficient numbers of highly qualified Special Operations Soldiers who are separating from the Active Army into Reserve Component units, consistent with geographic constraints.
- Achieve and maintain Army force alignment through the retention, transfer or enlistment of highly qualified Special Operations Soldiers in critical skills and locations.
- Support special programs, such as the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS), Warrant Officer Candidate School and the ROTC "Green to Gold" programs.
Oath Of Reenlistment
What is the point of having a reenlistment ceremony?
Reenlistment is one of the most time-honored traditions in the U.S. Army, which dates back to the Revolutionary War. Since it's inception, reenlistment ceremonies have undegone a few revisions, the most recent being the oath which was created in 1960 and implemented in 1962. Service members who enlist and reenlist into the Armed Forces will recite this oath each time that one's service is continued.
Is a reenlistment ceremony really necessary?
The answer is YES, according to Title 10 US Code § 502, however, it does not necessarily have to be conducted in the way in which one may think. There is nothing in Title 10 US Code § 502 that legally states how big or small the ceremony needs to be; it states that the oath will be recited by the reenlisting service member. It also states that the oath will be administered by a commissioned officer; the President; the Vice-President; the Secretary of Defense; or another other person designated by the Secretary of Defense who can also administer the oath. Finally, according to Army Regulation 601-280 the Flag will be prominently displayed in the immediate vicinity of the administering officer and Soldier.
Requirements of Reenlisting!
If you are reenlisting to continue your service, you MUST have a commissioned officer administer your oath, you WILL have the flag prominently displayed, and it is always a good practice to have a witness present. Again, this is your ceremony and you are entitled to have it as big or small as you would like, however, REMEMBER to remain respectful and tactful.
