MEDIA ADVISORY: 7th SFG (A) plans valor ceremony

7th SFG (A) Public Affairs

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (USASOC News Service, Oct. 6, 2014) – Soldiers assigned 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) will be recognized for their valor and bravery in a ceremony scheduled to begin 10 10 a.m.,  Oct. 8, 2014.

The soldiers will be recognized for their actions while deployed earlier this year in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  While deployed, the soldiers served as members of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force - Afghanistan.

Awards scheduled to be presented include Bronze Star Medals with V device for valor, Army Commendation Medals with V device for valor and two Soldier’s Medals.

“Many of the soldiers being recognized at this ceremony risked their own lives and wellbeing to save their comrades.  As a leader, I could not be prouder,” said Col. Robert Kirila, the group’s deputy commander.  “I am grateful we will have the opportunity to gather and honor these heroes and their families.”
