John Sherbert, North Field Team Sergeant, Company D (Robin Sage), 1st Special Warfare Training Group, speaks to a crowd during the towns Sept. 11 First Responders Ceremony at Bicentennial Park in Asheboro, N.C. Sherbert spoke about the role the local community plays in preparing Special Forces Soldiers for future deployments by participating and hosting the exercise known as Robin Sage. “Since September 11, forty-four Robin Sage Classes have been conducted throughout Central North Carolina. About 6,000 total Soldiers trained, with about 1,400 of those Soldiers being trained here, in and around Asheboro. To put that in perspective, a Special Forces Group is approximately 750 Special Forces Soldiers, this area has trained over two Special Forces Groups that are currently deploying overseas.
