Chief Warrant Officer 5 Robert W. HartCW5 Robert Hart entered the U.S. Army in 1983 and after completing Initial Entry Training and Airborne School he served as a scout with the 1st Cavalry Division Long Range Surveillance Detachment, Fort Hood, Texas. In 1988 CW5 Hart attended the first Special Forces Selection Course and subsequently completed the Special Forces Qualification Course.
CW5 Hart initially served on Operational Detachments in 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group as a Weapons Sergeant, Medical Sergeant, Intelligence Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant. While in 5th Special Forces Group, CW5 Hart participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Operations Uphold and Restore Democracy in Haiti, and Operations Iris Gold and Desert Spring in Kuwait.
In 1996 CW5 Hart successfully completed Special Forces Warrant Officer qualification and was subsequently assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group where he commanded a mobility ODA, completing multiple operations within the CENTCOM, AFRICOM and EUCOM AORs. CW5 Hart was later reassigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group where he served as an Assistant Detachment Commander during initial combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. CW5 Hart later served as the Battalion Operations Warrant Officer.
In 2004 CW5 Hart returned to Fort Bragg to serve as the Director of the Special Forces Warrant Officer Basic Course at the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center & School. After successfully transitioning the Special Forces warrant officer program to the current format he was selected to serve as the Group Operations Warrant Officer for the 1st Special Warfare Training Group. In 2007 CW5 Hart was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group where he served as the Battalion and Special Operations Task Force-71 Operations Warrant Officer, twice deploying in support of combat operations in Afghanistan. CW5 Hart was selected in 2009 to serve as the United States Army Special Operations Command Deputy Theater Operations Officer. In 2012 he was chosen to serve as Command Chief Warrant Officer of the 1st Special Warfare Training Group, a position he held for three years. CW5 Hart most recently served as the USASOC G2X Chief of Special Activities.
CW5 Hart’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal. He has been awarded the Special Forces Tab, Combat Infantry Badge, Combat Medic Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Military Free-fall Badge, and multiple foreign parachutist badges.
CW5 Hart has earned a Bachelor’s Degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Strategic Defense Analysis from Norwich University.
